Why Use Microsoft Frontpage, The Most Popular Website Software?
If you're looking for a HTML software that will basically cover all your needs you may want to consider the all popular Microsoft FrontPage. One of the latest addition to the Microsoft family this is one software that will offer a piece of solution that will last. Having the possibility to manage the whole website offline is only a part of all the features that are built-in with FrontPage. Though this is one complete software it may be too expensive and too advanced for some user. There's also one inconvenient to the software that may bother some beginning users. If you're a beginner you may need to do some learning before considering buying this software.
A great feature for new users is having the possibility to manage the whole website offline and it directly upload it to your FTP when you're done. FrontPage has the manager that will allow you to link your pages offline unlike the other softwares. This means whenever you make a change in your links you will easily see that change happen to your files without having to preview your whole website in a browser. It also comes with a great built-in design feature.
With built-in HTML, CSS, Java, and partial JavaScript you can basically design your whole website by simply coding it. Of course if you do not know how to do that you can always use their WYSIWYG visual editor and design your whole website. FrontPage supports the most popular languages online so you do not have to worry about any compatibility issues regarding your on-site optimization. A great product such as this doesn't come cheap especially since it's a Microsoft product.
This product is available through many promotions. You can get a single license for around $100-$150 or you can get it through at the packaged products which include many of Microsoft's softwares for $300 to maybe $500 or $600. If you are buying Microsoft office it will usually come in the professional edition or the enterprise edition I think. Of course you may think this is expensive but you do not have to get the latest version you can always get an earlier version for maybe a cheaper price but don't go back to for or you'll end up with some compatibility problems. Since Microsoft tries to force us to use their products FrontPage was designed specifically to be used with the Internet Explorer browser. It does not mean that you will not be able to view your site with any other browsers it's just a small detail that will only work if you are using an Internet Explorer browser. The WYSIWYG editor only previews properly what will happen in your Internet Explorer browser. If you are using Netscape or Firefox or any other browser for that matter the previews may be different and in some cases not work properly. So it's important to temper with the code a little bit in order to make it work on any browser. In the end the price will play a big factor in your decision because he can definitely find cheaper softwares that have a lot less features but have the main ones you need in order to create and design a website. It may not be as convenient but does a beginner user the convenience you will be looking for will probably be different than the convenience that an advanced user is looking for. Microsoft FrontPage is a really great product but it's not suited for everybody.
